Steganography is Cool!

Got another interview next week.  With Raytheon.  That makes 4 this semester so far.  Not sure where I want to go but I'm thinking Tinker AFB is looking pretty good.  They want me to come for an on-site interview this semester some time.  Overall it sounds like a great job, but I bet Raytheon will too.  I will just have to wait until after my interview to decide.  OG&E and ENGlobal are not looking as great though.

Made some Mii characters.  What do you think:

Me:

Angry me:

Carey:

Hulk Hogan:

Pee-Wee Herman:

Just a little over a month until the Wii comes out.  Can't wait.  I just hope I can get one at launch.  EB started taking preorders on the PS3 today, although it is 11:00am as I write this, so they have probably already filled their quota.

I have a test tomorrow so I better go study.  But before I do let me leave you with a quick hint about my Halloween costume.

Imagine this:

Except giant.

More info to come...

So I got another job interview.  This time with ENGlobal.  It's Tuesday.  I'm pretty excited about it.  I think I would rather work there than at OG&E.  Check them out.

This week is and next are super busy.  This week is rush week for Theta Tau and I have a Discrete Math test today.  Next week besides the interview I have 3 homework assignments due, one quiz, and one test.  But on the upside both The Little Mermaid and X3 come out on DVD Tuesday.  I have a feeling I will be getting one for me and the other for Carey.

Ok well back to studying.  Oh and I think I know what I am going to be for Halloween.  Details later.

I'm alive.  That's right.  I know you missed me.  Here are some random thoughts I have had the past few weeks:

Some Things that really grind my gears:

Sony.  I hate Sony.  Not only did they screw up majorly with the PS3 (only 400,000 systems this year?!?  WTF?!?!?!  Nintendo is shipping 4 million Wiis by the end of the year.  And don't get me started on the price of the PS3) but they are pushing Blu-Ray way too hard.  In order to even play a Blu-Ray disc you also have to have a Blu-Ray player (approx $1000) with compatible Blu-Ray cables.  And then after you buy all of that you are on food stamps for the next few years.  It's no wonder so many software companies are trying to back out of making PS3 games.

Oh well.  Some of my anger is probably due to Sony Online totally ruining Star Wars Galaxies.  That's right.  Now Rusha Feeni truly is dead.  After being a member for 3 years, my subscription expired last Monday and I did not renew it.  And did I do the courteous thing and remove my houses and sell my rare items?  Hell No!  I dumped my millions and millions of credits into my houses.  They will be there for years, which is probably longer than the game will last at this rate.  And all of the items I had that no longer exist in the game are sitting safely in my house.  Anyone can walk in and see them, but they will be forever untouchable.  However, there is hope on the horizon.

And speaking of Star Wars, has anyone heard about the new DVDs?
The good news:  Yes, they have the original theatrical versions on them.  Yes the REAL Star Wars.  And each DVD is about 20 bucks.  Not bad right?  Especially if you buy them at Wal-Mart and get the free comics that come with them.
The bad news:  The original versions are in no way remastered or anything.  They are taken directly from the laserdiscs and just thrown on to the DVD as an afterthought.  Which means the quality is on par with the versions you can download for free.  Suck!  I was going to buy them until I discovered that my THX VHS tapes are of better quality.  Who want's a low quality Star Wars?

Hey, wait a minute.  I think I know that Luke.

Thought he looked familiar.

Guitar Tabs.  Many of the sites I used to go to regularly are now inactive to due lawsuits claiming copyright infringement.  I'm sorry but that is bullshit.  Quoting Guitar Tab Universe, "When you are jamming with a friend and you show him/her the chords for a song you heard on the radio, is that copyright infringement? What about if you helped him/her remember the chord progression or riff by writing it down on, say, a napkin... infringement? If he/she calls you later that night on the phone or e-mails you and you respond via one of those methods, are you infringing? I don't know... but I would really like to know. If anyone has information on this, please email support@guitartabs.cc."

For more info just check out http://www.guitartabs.cc/ or http://www.olga.net/.

Changes on Campus.  Mainly KD Dining.  I can't figure out whether it is trying to make us the "Healthiest Campus in the US" or just plain trying to suck the money out of us, but all-you-care-to-eat dining is gone.  That's right.  Now you get to go and pay $6 for one entree and 2 sides, not including drink, roll, additional sides, or dessert.  And here's the worst part:  The food is exactly the same.  Carey and I went the other night and we were lucky here meal plan is free for being a CM because I got very dry pork loin, macaroni and cheese, and mixed vegetables with water to drink.  6 bucks.  whoopee.

This is where I would normally go on a rant about the new Village buildings but I just don't have the time right now.  If you haven't heard the stories and you are interested just ask.  I have plenty of them.  Ok just one.  All I am going to say is wouldn't it suck if you had the first parking spot next to the building and while you were at class, somebody put up a handicap parking sign in front of your car and slapped a ticket on your windshield?  No it didn't happen to me but it did to some unfortunate soul who lives here.  But hey I finally got a mail key last week.  Yay.

Pluto.  Or I guess 134340 as it is now known.  Not a planet anymore.  What the hell is this dwarf planet crap anyway?  I think there is a conspiracy to change all information I learned as a kid.  There is no such thing as a Brontosaurus and there never was.  The ABC song you learned has been changed.  There is a new way of rounding.  Next they will say George Washington was a compulsive liar and he chopped down hundreds of cherry trees before they finally caught him.  Or Johnny Appleseed never existed.  He was in fact known as Freddy Pinecone.

Storytime

Ok that's enough gear grinding for now.  Now I will tell you the story of how I accidentally got a job interview, but then lost it, and then got it back.  Ready?  Here goes.

So I am at the career fair last Tuesday.  There were lots of neat companies and I talked to many.  I am excited about applying to a few of the neater ones.  So I am getting ready to leave and I am kind of in a hurry because I am supposed to meet Carey for lunch.  As I am walking towards the door I hear "Hi Erik."  Damn this nametag with my major on it!  It turns out it was a recruiter from OG&E and they really want Electrical Engineers.  So I ended up talking to them for about 10 minutes and giving them a resume.  They say they are conducting interviews the next day and they would call me if they wanted me.  I said ok and left, not thinking any more about it.  Well later that day while I was at work, I got a call saying they wanted to interview me.  So we decided upon 2:15pm and that was that.

So I am waiting in the waiting room.  One EE went in before me and I am next.  They call me in.  There are supposed to be 2 guys interviewing me but there is only one and he is standing outside the room.  He says the other guy went to the bathroom and he will be right back.  A few minutes later he comes back looking really pale.  They go down the hall away from me and have a little chat.  After about 5 minutes of me just standing there outside the interview room the HR guy comes and tells me that they had to rush the interviewer to the hospital because they thought he may be having a heart attack or a stroke.  So to make a long story short my interview was moved to Monday.  It ended up going pretty well and I am planning on submitting a real application.  Who knows where that will go?

In closing, I am so going to buy a Wii.  That is all.
